The 2017 Ford Explorer is a SUV suitable for large families which are always travelling or on the move for it is large and very spacious. The new model is fuel efficient, luxurious and very affordable compared to other SUVs that comprise the same features. The SUV has been redesigned and comes along with more and better features than its predecessors. The model will be offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Limited, XLT, Platinum and Sport.

The 2017 Ford Explorer exterior is elegantly and brilliantly designed. The vehicle’s front has been modified or upgraded and features a redesigned hood, a new grille and new LED headlights making the vehicle flashier. The vehicle’s back features LED taillights, new bumper design, modified pillars and new exhaust pipes. Base model will ride on 18 inch alloy wheels with higher trims riding on 20 inch aluminium wheels. In-addition, higher trim levels are equipped with HID headlights, rain sensing wipers and a moon roof among other amazing features. The SUV will also comprise 5 doors.

The 2017 Ford Explorer interior will be upgraded using quality materials and latest technologies currently available in the industry. The cabin is very spacious and features a 3- row seating arrangement capable of accommodating 7 passengers. The SUV offers standard features like cloth upholstery on seats making seats more comfortable, a 6-way power driver’s seat, 60/40 split folding 2nd row seats, 50/50 split folding 3rd row seats, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, a 4.2 –inch display screen, a CD player, a rear view camera and auxiliary audio inputs.

The XLT trim adds more interior features such as an 8-way power driver’s seat, a satellite radio, keyless entry and ignition, rear parking sensors and a leather coated steering wheel. Additionally, the XLT trim level has an Equipment Group 201A optional package that adds an SD card, a remote start, front heated seats, leather upholstery, Sync functionality, a configurable gauge cluster and an 8-inch touch-screen.

The Limited trim level offers all XLT package features adding perforation on the front seats, a premium Sony audio system, a 110 Volts outlet, driver memory setting, HD radio and a tilt steering and telescoping steering wheel, and. The Limited trim also has an optional Equipment Group 301A package adding lane departure warning, automatic high beam, brake priming, adaptive cruise control, blind spot and forward collision warning and the front seats comprise a massage function.

Top trims like the Sport and Platinum trim levels come equipped and installed with all 301A package features adding wood trims and aluminium to the interior, a rear entertainment system, captain chairs on the 2nd row and a dual-panel sunroof. The safety of the vehicle is also ensured with airbags present in the new model.

2017 Ford Explorer Engine Options and Fuel Economy

The 2017 Ford Explorer will feature 3 drive-train options. Every engine is paired with a 6-speed auto transmission system. The FWD system is standard on the XLT and Limited trim levels while the AWD system is standard on the Platinum and Sport trim levels. The base, XLT and Limited trims will feature a 3.5 Litre, V-6 engine producing 290 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. The second engine offered on the Platinum and Sport trim levels will feature a 3.5 Litre, V-6 engine producing 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Another engine option on the XLT and Limited trim levels is the 2.3 Litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 270 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque and is more fuel efficient than the other engine options. The vehicle is fuel efficient returning an estimated 16 mpg when driven in the city, 22 mpg in the highway and 18 mpg on combined drives.

2017 Ford Explorer Release Date and Price

The release date of the 2017 Ford Explores has not been officially announced but it is expected to be released into the global car market in the second half or fall of 2016. As for the price, the Explorer is expected to be around $30,000 US Dollars. The model is also likely to face competition from Dodge Durango, Chevrolet Traverse, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
