Audi has confirmed the upcoming of Audi Q2. The 2017 Audi Q2 which is as a result of the company’s decision to switch the name from Q1 is laden with fascinating features as it nears its debut. However, the name switch comes after a tough battle with Alfa Romeo over the ownership rights to the name Q2. According to Ulrich Hackenberg, a former executive of the Audi luxury car division, the Audi Q2 is a crossover design by the company featuring a smaller appearance in its efforts to expand the Q lineup.

The 2017 Audi Q2 features a completely new design which comes out as a camouflaged prototype of a shrunken Q3. The model is to be built on an MQB platform recently introduced by Volkswagen AG for its Audi, Volkswagen, and Skoda brands globally. It will be smaller with a 4200mm long, 1750 mm wide and 1570 mm tall measurements. According to the manufacturer, the overall design plan (both interior and exterior) for Q2 is inspired from its sibling Q5. It is expected to embrace new styling formed around spotless dashboards with a stable air vent strip.

The outside design of the Q2 is expected to give this smaller SUV model an attractive and modern appearance. Coupled with some sensational design endeavors, the Q2 is expected to come out boldly alongside its larger siblings, Q3, Q5, and Q7.

For instance, the Q2 will have a low roofline with a capacity amounting to 350 litres. The model also features a slightly angular outlook which comes out as aggressive and unique. The 2017 Audi Q2 is also expected to be a technology standout which brings out Audi’s relentless desire to appeal to young people who are increasingly becoming potential buyers in the auto market.

Amazingly, there will be two options for engine specifications, that is, petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine will be a 1.4 liter TFS while the diesel option will be a 1.4 litre TDI. Customers will also have the option to decide between automatic and manual transmissions.

The vehicle will also have a standard Front Wheel Drive system with an option for All -Wheel Drive system. As a result, the manufactures have dedicated a 3 cylinder petrol engine with a 100 horse power. The fuel consumption rate is also expected to decline significantly. There is also standard engine models offered for sports versions known as SQ2. The models feature a 2.0 Turbo TDI engine with up to 230 horse power.

The manufacturer has been on the bad receiving end for not giving out clear information of the upcoming SUV. However, the release is expected in March 2016 in Geneva Motor show. The price is expected to start from $25,000 for standard options and a higher price for customized and advanced renditions. Already test drives of the prototype of this trendy vehicle are going on as we wait anxiously for its release.
