2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Review

Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the most popular SUV models from the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors. Mitsubishi Pajero debuted as a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 1973, while a second prototype debuted five year later. The first generation debuted at the same auto show, in October 1981. Since then, Mitsubishi Motors manufactured and released four generations of the now popular sport utility vehicle. The next generation, the fifth, will see the debut of the first Mitsubishi Pajero plug-in hybrid. It is a trend among automotive manufacturers to release plug-in hybrid versions of their popular models, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Mitsubishi Motors will release a hybrid version of its Pajero SUV.

The Japanese automaker is expected to keep the overall design of the Pajero intact, since it is a trademark of the model, but some tweaks can be expected. The chrome grille will remain but there will be a new full size bumper, the hood is now higher and there will be new headlights. You can also expect other adjustments to the exterior design, and from the concept pictures it seems that the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero will be a sleek looking SUV.

The interior of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero won’t be similar to the futuristic interior cabin of the GC-PHEV. However, the interior cabin of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero will be very spacious. Seven passengers can travel comfortably in the upcoming Mitsubishi Pajero. Besides plenty of room, the interior cabin also offers luxurious travel conditions, as the seats will be made of premium leather materials.

Even if it doesn’t go for a futuristic look, the fifth generation Pajero’s interior cabin features 9-inch displays and a Rockford sound system with 12 speakers plus a DVD player. You will also find that there are charging solutions for mobile devices included. When it comes to safety, the interior cabin of the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero includes ABS, brake assist, parking sensors and a blind spot monitoring system to warn you if another vehicle is too close.

As mentioned above, the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero will be the first plug-in hybrid in the Pajero line. When buying a new, fifth generation Mitsubishi Pajero, you will be given the choice to opt for one of three engine options: a 3.0 L engine with automatic transmission; a hybrid engine or a 2.5 L turbo diesel engine. The hybrid engine will be powered by a supercharged 3.0 L V6 engine with a 12 kWh high quality battery and an electric motor. The total horse power will be around 430. The hybrid Mitsubishi Pajero will probably provide around 25 miles of all electric range, which is pretty good for a sport utility vehicle.
