2016 Lincoln MKX Price and Release date

2016 Lincoln MKX should mark the beginning of the second generation, since this is the biggest redesign seen since the start of production back in 2007. However, the MKX was refreshed just recently, back in 2011, but that change included mainly interior changes. Alterations we can expect from this model year, and from new generation are somewhat revealed just recently at this year Beijing Motor Show, when Lincoln presented MKX Concept.

According to the concept vehicle, 2016 Lincoln MKX will have the recognizable split-wing grille but this time with horizontal stripes, curvaceous side body lines, and overall curvy shape. Production version will carry over these design cues, looking modern and perhaps even futuristic with specially designed headlights and taillights. Roof spoiler will also feature LED lighting, while 2016 Lincoln MKX will be run on 21-inch set of wheels.

Special editions:    2016 Lincoln MKX will also be available in premium Black Label edition, which will include special trim, and some extra styling cues, both inside and out.

As noticeable from the pictures, Lincoln designers paid special attention on the details. Perfectly designed mirrors are combined with a LED headlights and special LED daytime running lights placed under the headlights. Frameless windows, brushed aluminum accents, sleek rear spoiler, full-width LED taillights are just some of the detailing found on the latest MKX.

Inside, 2016 Lincoln MKX design will not fall behind the exterior look. It will be highly equipped, with bunch of standard and optional features, packed into thoroughly bundled packages.

Lincoln officials didn’t reveal much about the powertrains of the upcoming 2016 MKX. However, there were no indications that popular manufacturer will make major upgrades.  2016 Lincoln MKX will probably use the same power units as its predecessor. Base engine will continue to be a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Transmission should also remain unchanged, 6-speed automatic. Both front- (standard) and all-wheel drive will continue to be available.

For previous MKX with this engine fuel economy is rated at 18/26/21 mpg city/hwy/combined and 17/23/19 mpg with AWD.

A second possibility for the 2016 Lincoln MKX is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, new Ford engine, placed under the hood of F-150 pickup. Whether hybrid variant will be available is still unknown, while turbocharged four-cylinder also remains an option.

Division of vehicles from category Lincoln SUVs compete is pretty impressive. This 2-row, 5-passenger crossover SUV will face Lexus RX, Audi Q5 and Cadillac SRX as its strongest opponents. 2016 Lincoln MKX’s rivals also include Mercedes-Benz GLK, BMW X3 and Infiniti QX50 since they offering the highest luxury for their customers, Lincoln plans to face them in their own game.

Exact release is still unknown. Concept variant of the vehicle already had its premiere, as we mentioned earlier, at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, while the production variant is expected to emerge in the mid 2015. Full specs of the 2016 MKX will be revealed probably early on next year, ahead of its release. Pricing is still unknown, but, according to some reliable sources, it should start around $40,000, or slightly over that figure.
