2015 Porsche Macan

Great success of the mid-size SUV Cayenne was the instigator for German producer to expand its SUV line-up. Since the brand is already known for its performance, it is no wonder that its latest creation makes the stunning output and drives like a regular car. Sportier than most SUVs on the market, Macan will reap the sympathies with its handsome look and luxury components.

2015 Porsche Macan performance

Both trims of the 2015 Porsche Macan have different engines. Base trim, Macan S, comes with slightly weaker, 3.0-liter V6 engine that has an output of 340 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. Under the hood of the Macan Turbo is placed a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers up to 400 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard for both trims, and is the only available option. Transmission choice is also the same for both engine versions and it includes 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Porsche claimed that acceleration time for base S version is 5.2 seconds, and for Turbo variant 4.6 seconds. Both these results can be enhanced by 0.2 seconds if you add up Launch Control. Automatic start-stop system is standard for all trims. Its towing power is rated at 5 291 pounds, when properly equipped, of course. Both trims and both engines provide the same fuel economy, and deliver up to 17/23/19 mpg city/hwy/combined.

2015 Porsche Macan competition

2015 Porsche Macan will be tough one to beat at the market. Its main downside is its fuel economy, and if you watch that segment, Macan could lose some points. Rivals that 2015 Porsche Macan will face include two of its compatriots: the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3, while for US market, it will have to outperform the Range Rover Evoque. Porsche, however, listed yet another competitor, from (no kidding) Germany, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, for its Macan.

2015 Porsche Macan price and release
