Kia Sorento had its major makeover last year, and with that redesign, Kia changed or improved almost everything, from engines, features, materials, to altered design. Still, after extensive alterations Kia found some things to change for this, 2015 model year, too. 2015 Kia Sorento: Changes

2015 Kia Sorento has four trim levels, and with that much trim options, Sorento is definitely among the leaders in its category. Changes for 2015 model year include refreshed front end of the Sorento. New design of the front grill will incorporate two versions, one with silver metal finishing and one with black mesh. Fog lights are pushed more to sides, LED headlights are also slightly redesigned, as well as couple of other details. Inside 2015 Kia Sorento looks really great. Luxury furnishing, great number of features and high-tech equipment will meet the standards of even most demanding customers. Sorento is not a typical mid-size crossover SUV mainly due to its dimensions that are smaller than the regular mid-seizer. This reflects to leg room left for passengers on the back seats. Third row of seats is optional on the base trim, and is also auxiliary, and being that, it offers little of leg room, especially for adults. If you fold third row, and go with just two rows, than the situation is better, and there is enough comfort for people seated in the back seats. New feature is panoramic sunroof, while Bluetooth connection, satellite radio, and power features are part of standard features for even the entry level LX.

All trims, beside base LX, are run by a 3.3-liter GDI V-6 engine that produces up to 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. The base trim, however is mated to a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder engine equipped with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Both engines however are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel-drive is optional on all trims. 20/26/22 mpg are fuel economy rates that 2015 Kia Sorento LX (four-cylinder) gained, while with V6 engine Sorento gained 18/25/21 mpg city/hwy/combined scores. However all-wheel-drive models have slightly different numbers and are rated at 19/24/21 mpg (LX-four-cylinder), and 18/24/20 mpg with V6 engine under the hood.

2015 Kia Sorento: Competitors

Already tough competition in this segment didn’t make it easier for 2015 Sorento. Its biggest competitors come from Ford, Toyota and Nissan. Ford’s Edge has better fuel economy, while Toyota Venza also tops Sorento in efficiency.  However Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder perhaps offer same level of luxury but are also less practical and have similar consumption.

2015 Kia Sorento: Release Date and Price

Like we mentioned, 2015 Kia Sorento is available in four trims including base LX, (LX with V6), EX, SX and Limited. Price varies from $24 300 which is the amount of money you will have to extract for base LX with four-cylinder engine, up to $39 900 which is the price of the top trim Limited. 2015 Kia Sorento LX version with V6 engine costs $ 26 700, EX $ 31 700, and SX $ 36 700. 2015 Sorento had its reveal at the 2014 NAIAS in Detroit, while its European reveal is yet to happen, just a few months from now, in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
