Chevy’s Equinox is a perfect vehicle in the lineup for the transition between Chevy’s trucks and cars. Although you could find different info about range of changes for 2015 Equinox, even the announcement for new generation, the truth is that new Equinox won’t be changed much for the upcoming model year. Its major makeover will, most likely, happen for 2016th model year, or even a year later.

Standard features for base trim include 17-inch alloy wheels, climate control, adjustable rear seats a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with controls for OnStar sound system (since 2015 model year it has 4G LTE connectivity and creates WiFi), satellite radio, an additional audio input. LT trim level includes two sub-categories which are named simply 1LT and 2LT, and each contains its package of equipment. LTZ trim, brings the top level equipment, as well as luxurious touches such as leather upholstery. If you opt for this trim variant you will also get automatic headlights, chrome wheels, rear parking sensors, forward collision and lane departure warning.

Under the hood of its 2015 Equinox Chevy offered two engines choices. First and base engine is 2.4-liter four-cylinder equipped with direct injection and variable valve timing. Base power unit has an output of 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Front wheel drive is standard on all trim levels, as well as six-speed transmission. FWD models with base engine have fuel economy rates at 22/32 mpg city/hwy which is really great for this size vehicle. AWD models have slightly lower numbers but just as competitive a 20/29 mpg. Optional and more powerful engine is a 3.6-liter V6 unit with 301 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for this engine is rated at 17/24 mpg city/hwy (FWD) and 16/23 mpg (AWD).

With its great fuel economy, price range, numerous features and versatility make 2015 Chevrolet Equinox strong rival among highly competitive model category. It could be compared and reviewed with Honda CR-V on the first place, due to similarities in price range and utility. New Equinox will actually have competition in pretty much every Toyota and Honda model from its category. Beside Toyota and Honda, this compact SUV could be competing against Ford Edge and Hyundai Santa Fe too, and perhaps even Subaru Forester.

Just recently Chevy decided to release the price of its 2015 Equinox, while there is still no exact date of the release. However the price will vary between $24,370 and $33,520. It will depend on choices you make during the shopping, regarding trim and additional options.
