2015 Buick Envision – Full Review

2015 Buick Envision is an all-new crossover from Buick’s lineup, and it will be placed between the Encore and the Enclave, and fill in the gap between those two. The concept of this vehicle debuted back in 2011, and just couple of days ago, we had a chance to see finish product.

2015 Buick Envision falls into compact crossover category with length of 4,667 millimeters, a width of 1,804 mm and height of 1,659 mm. The wheelbase of this brand new model is 2,750 mm. However the exact specs differ from market to market, since Envision will be available on all markets around the globe, but with different specs and names too. For European market it will be made by Opel.

Recognizable waterfall grill and 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels are the first thing you will notice when you look at the 2015 Buick Envision. Exterior features also include LED daytime lights (boomerang-shape) and chrome trim, while you can also notice styling resembles with Encore and Enclave. 2015 Envision is available in five color shades which include Snowy White, Glacier Silver, Pearl Black, Topaz Brown (on the pictures) and Sky Purple.

Interior of the 2015 Buick Envision will, however, delight you even more. Wood trim, piano black accents and chrome details found on the inside is greatly combined with latest tech features. In order to look more appealing and comfortable, Envision’s inside also features leather upholstery, panoramic moonroof and ice-blue ambient lighting. Center console is slightly curved to the left, while the steering wheel is multifunctional, leather-wrapped and heatable. In the center of the dashboard is placed an 8-inch touchscreen with MyLink infotainment system. Bose audio system and Active Noise Cancellation technology are also available for the 2015 Buick Envision. Regarding the space, this all-new SUV offers just under 55 cubic feet of cargo room.

2015 Buick Envision is built on an upgraded version of GM’s Delta II platform. It comes powered by an turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine. This power unit provides 256 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque, and comes mated to a new-generation six-speed automatic transmission which, together with stop/start technology significantly improves fuel economy of the Envision. 2015 Envision will also have FlexRide system which provides four different driving modes: Normal, Tour, Sport and Off-Road. It is able to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds, according to Buick estimation.

Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive is available as optional. According to GM’s data, new 2015 Buick Envision will be able to deliver 27 mpg of combined ride.

Having in mind its size and features, 2015 Buick Envision will face Acura RDX and Infiniti EX, as one of the closest rivals. Due to its long list of features, and luxurious design, it could even compete with  BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. Slightly bigger than Envision, but close enough to fight in the same arena are Toyota Highlander and GMC Terrain.

The concept of the 2015 Buick Envision was revealed few years ago at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, and the big premiere of the regular model took place at the 2014 Chengdu Auto Show in China. It should be released in sale at the beginning of the 2015, although, some sources claim that Buick could decide to launch this model as a 2016 Envision for U.S. market. We, on the other hand, believe it will come to U.S. dealers during the 2015th as a 2015 model.

 Pricing is not published yet, and we will have to wait for its on-sale date to approach, so that officials release pricing specs of the 2015 Envision. Expected base price will be somewhere around $30 000, if we look at the prices of its relatives Encore and Enclave.
