2015 BMW X3: Trims and Features

In order to achieve more elegant and luxurious look, German producer decided to upgrade material, and add few finishing touches that will simplify interior and give it clean and more elegant look. 2015 BMW is available in four trim levels that are divided by drive mode and powertrains, and include sDrive28i, xDrive28i, xDrive28d and xDrive35i variants. Latest X3 is loaded with features, and even in base trim it offers features such as “SensaTec” premium vinyl upholstery, iDrive electronics interface with touchpad controller, and a 12-speaker sound system with a CD player, HD radio, an iPod/USB audio interface and an auxiliary audio jack. Further down the line xDrive28i adds on hill descent control. xDrive28d trim has diesel engine under the hood. xDrive35i adds a dose of luxury with a bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights and a panoramic sunroof.

2015 BMW X3: Engine and Fuel Economy

Three engines are included in BMW’s offer for 2015 X3 model. First, found in sDrive28i and xDrive28i is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder capable to deliver 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Differences on those trims is in drive mode, sDrive28i has rear and xDrive28i all-wheel-drive. Interesting fact is that both models have the same EPA-estimates, and has the same fuel consumption, which is 21/24/28 mpg city/hwy/combined. 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 180 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque is placed under the hood of xDrive28d. 2015 BMW X3 with diesel engine consumes 27/30/34 mpg city/hwy/combined. Third and most powerful engine is 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 that has 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, and it has fuel economy rates at 19/21/26 mpg city/hwy/combined. All 2015 BMW X3 versions come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and with automatic stop-start system.

The toughest rivals for 2015 BMW X3 are competitors from its native country. Audi’s Q5 has almost the same amount of engine options, and high quality equipment. 2015 Porsche Macan advantages could be its higher performance but, on the other hand, BMW has more cargo space and lower price tag. Beside these two, , the 2015 Acura RDX and 2015 Volvo XC60 are in its price range, but differ on utility purpose. Mercedes-Benz GLK350 is yet another rival from Germany, but offers less space overall.

2015 BMW X3: Price and Release Date

The 2015 BMW X3 price starts at  $39 325, for model with rear-wheel-drive, while adding $1400 more you can buy xDrive28i model with all-wheel drive.  The xDrive35i has the highest price tag $45 825, while diesel version is somewhere between, with price of $42 825. X3 had its debut at the Chicago Auto Show, earlier on, in January this year, and sale started this spring, few months ago.
